Hi Viran and welcome to our forums. First I would suggest trying the latest firmware for your drive but be aware there are many types of 1633. Latest official Liteon firmware is here: http://r00.liteonit.com.tw/ODD/English/e_downloads/e_firmware_dvd%20rw.asp?Flag=1&Item=DR16BS0Y&Model=SHOW-1633S Fuji 16x-r is normally ritek based and on the 1633 8x is recomended. have you also tried the gateway website to see if they have a newer firmware? If this doesn't work we stil have other options but they might void your warranty. Sticking to media such as taiyo Yuden and Verbatim wil greatly increase your chances of success on this writer too. I hope this helps and please let me know

I was/am having the exact same problem. I followed the same step, only I am encountering the following error when attempting the firmware updrade. As you can see, it's telling me I don't have the correct drive, however in the list of the drives it says I do have, the drive is clearly listed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
