CxD handles formatting it self and that disk is DVD-R.

Medium errors, either your drive is dirty or it needs firmware updating.

I GET THIS:

"write error at 3166 160 (16) code 03 02 00 medium error, unable to seek the requested position"

I TRIED: (1click dvd - latest version 5 with CPRx)
Right Click > Settings Menu
> Set DVD-R Write Mode > Check= try SAO first
UNcheck= Enable media stats collection - VSO:

Update your Firmware:
both my drives have the latest firmware (v3.07 for the NEC ND-3520AW & vF105 for the Samsung SD-616F).
The lenses have been cleaned.
I changed the write speed from max. to 2x.

I used ri-disc dvd+r DL (8.5GB). NO scratches on these or my source disc, both ultra clean!

1 click says I need at least 7.1GB.

The source is Most Haunted series7 which I own on DVD! there does not appear to be any CSS encryption as DVD43 remains oblivious to its insertion?

I use WINXP/SP2 all with latest daily updates!

I shut all other apps. down when copying so that there is nothing to interfere with the process?

Now I'm stuck! - what to do please Confused

That error is problem with drive, medium or some other program interfering with burn engine.
Isolating which one it is the tricky part.
Try those discs in another system, try to get another burner, check what processes are running and might interfere.

are there any disks to recommend to me?

the manufacture ID on mine is: CMC MAG D01 RITEK/RI-DISC. 8.5 GB-DL 2.4x, CLV. HAVE previously used with success in this system.

Both DVD dycryptor and DVDinfo says that the most haunted disc has no encryption (none).
I haven't got another system but I do have another burner (Sony) and I can buy some more discs.
I always shutdown apps. & processes and only leave the ones that windows prevents me from unhooking.
I have 1GB memory (top corsair not generic), never given me any excessive grief either. Intel processor, Asus mainboard and its all run perfectly stable for ages!

What's this CPRx and retail DVDs with deliberate bad sectors all about?

1 Click has transferred the entire disc to the hard drive: bups, vobs and ifos. The vobs play on 'Power DVD' OK! But at 86% of the burn I get the error everytime?

Should I try different burning software? If so, - what?

where's the log file on '1 click' v5 by the way?

many thanks in advance for suggestions offered.

Is there a way to check the integrity of the DVD image which '1 click' has transferred to my HDD (i.e. check the image for errors or something?).
I've got tmpgEnc. Authoring software and canopus procoder. Would there be any point in coding the image to mpeg2 with procoder?

CMC Mag is crap. Check here: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm

Those discs might still have copyprotection.

That is good but not enough. Just installing some apps will cause other programs to behave badly.

Sadly computers age. Small things start to happen, and user usually does not notice it before it is too late. (nothing backed up...)

Copy protection on disc.

If you get burning error at ecatly same point (amount of data/time burned) then most likely your burner is faulty.
Sometimes burn head axel gets dust in it, and it prevents proper motion.

You can try any free program, if they burn ok then something is messing with Patin-Couffin. (VSO burn engine)

Sorry, no idea. Never used that package.

There is no proper way to do this.
You can use image-drive and check contents of image this way, you should be able to find problems (if there is any).

@JJ

image drive by nero is a 'drive emulator' software!

Did you mean drive image perhaps? Although that is a 'drive copy' software, not a tester!

please give me the URL - thanks!

No, I mean software that emulates physical drive. Like one that comes with Nero.
There are lots of much better ones, Alcohol and VirtualDaemon are good.

After 1click has made image to harddrive you can mount that image with Alcohol. Then simply check contents - copy them to hd folder or watch the movie from that image.
If you can't copy contents to harddrive or watch movie then there is something wrong.
