|
|
Hi guys!
I have two short movies that will fit on a single-sided DVD+R.
(Well, actually, with a slight compression from DVDShrink).
"IMAX: The Secret of Life On Earth" and
"Discoveries America... Washington, DC"
Is it possible to create a user-created Main Menu with buttons to select watching either movie from a selectable Main Menu screen?
Also, can a background picture be added to this Main Menu screen? If so, what type of image does it have to be, a .JPG? Are there any sites that have pre-made background images or even entire Main Menus that I can bring into DVDReMake to use as my Main Menu screen? If so, how do I then edit the buttons to say the name of each movie?
Is there an existing tutorial available to guide me through this? Or, if one doesn't exist and it isn't too much to ask, could you please provide me step-by-step instructions as to how to create this user-created Main Menu?
Thanks. |

You can't create your own menu in DVDRMP. Use other authoring software to do that and import the menu into DVDRMP.
What you can do is use the Merge feature to merge the 2 short movies. A default DvdReMake menu will be created for you to choose either movie. Check the Sticky List of Useful Topics for more info. Specifically, you can use this GUIDE to replace just the modified background. But before this, to get the DvdReMake background, choose "Export frame" in the Preview window. It will be in 32-bit BMP. Modify it with your favorite photo editor and save as 24-bit BMP. Then use AutoMux to auto convert BMP to VOB format for import.
However, if you want to completely create your own menu, use this GUIDE 1 or GUIDE 2 instead to replace the menu. |

Thanks again, toaddub. You gave a great place to start this project! I'll let you know of my success (or failure )! |

Hi toaddub!
I picked up again on this project of merging these two short DVDs into one.
Question: Do these DVDRemake generic Main Menu backgrounds come without the "arrow within the circle" buttons, so that I can add these "arrow within the circle" buttons where I want to, on the screen?
I'd like to line them up straight all the way on the left side of the screen so I can have room to type the name of whatever movie it may be. I know it's a little plainer-looking than the current motif seen in these DVDReMake screens, but I want to make it generic enough so that I can add whatever title a movie has, long or short, for future movies.
I know I can take these stills and edit them with an image editor like Photoshop to clone an area of the background where there's no arrow, on top of the arrows. Would you have available these backgrounds "clean" to start with, so that I could copy an "arrow within the circle" graphic and place it on the screen where I'd like? I'd then create a button from scratch, out of that area of the screen, from within DVDRemake itself.

You can add these background buttons anywhere you want, but you have to do the same in the subpicture bitmap as well so the highlight can be shown.
Maybe Dimad can supply additional backgrounds with the "arrow within the circle" buttons lined up straight, along with the corresponding subpicture bitmaps. You can then author them together with MuxMan. Would this work for you? |

That would be a little bit more work, huh? It would be a real pain lining up the yellow highlights to be right over the "arrow within the circle" buttons, huh?

Yes, indeed! That would be perfect for what I'd like to do! That way, as you said, toaddub, the highlight of the yellow cursor would be at the correct location on the screen.
Yes, please pass this request on to the appropriate people at Dimad if they could please make these 2-disc, 3-disc and 4-disc lined-up arrow buttons for three additional generic Main Menu screens. They'd be very handy, I think.
Thank you. |

If you use Photoshop having the subpicture bitmap as layer 1 on top the background, it wouldn't be hard to align. Of course, to see the background, you're going to set the layer 1 temporarily transparent.
Hope Dimad reads this thread and hears your request. |
