Hi Just to point out that Hebrew subtitles get a blank name when you edit any DVD with them... They have done for all version 3.xx of DVD Remake Pro and maybe even further back!! Somebody might want to check up on your lookup table for the language code. BTW you can set the subtitle back to Hebrew manually and export the DVD so the error must in the code to initially decode the DVD subtitles... Bob Wya

Hi folks,

As far as I can tell there is still a bug with Hebrew subtitle streams... It is the same for all DVDs (just find one with a Hebrew subtitle stream)... They end up getting the wrong ID code on importing or exporting... So they will end up being an unidentified stream in DVD Shrink/ DVD player, etc. Surely this can't be a hard bug to track down... Its only a lookup table issue, right!!

I reported this easy-fix bug over a year ago...

Okay

Just to add some information ... 'cauze I sound real lazy otherwise!!

The problem seems to be inconsistant use of Hebrew (he) vs. Hebrew (iw) codes in the VIDEO_TS.IFO or VTS_xx.IFO subtitle stream information. If I poke the
offending streams to all use the 'iw' code with IfoEdit the problem magically goes away!!

For your information DVDShrink only recognises the code Hebrew (iw) and this must be used in both the VIDEO_TS.IFO and VTS_xx.IFO.

What is the difference between the 'he' and 'iw' codes one wonders??

Now that I have clarified what is causing the problem perhaps you guys could just switch to using the 'iw' code throughout?

Thanks

Threads merged. Thanks for reminding. I'm sure Dimad can fix this easily. Wink

What does the original DVD use: 'he' or 'iw'? Do your standalones show Hebrew on either code?

IC, DRMP only has 'he' for selection, but both the DRMP manual and PgcEdit list it as 'iw' which DVDShrink will display the name Hebrew. Language code 0x6977.

There was a note in ISO 639 table for Hebrew: "HEBREW HE SEMITIC [*Changed 1989 from original ISO 639:1988, IW]".

Looks like DVDs use older version of the standart. Anyway, changed to iw. Will appear in next release.

How 'bout make both available in the selection, just in case some DVDs use 'he'? Or are they having the same language code?

Hi

They have different language codes...

I think we are safe enough if DVDRemake just converts all (he) codes to (iw) codes... I mean does anyone actually watch the Hebrew subtitles anyway... Smile

Certainly DVDShrink doesn't pickup on the (he) code (even if both VIDEO_TS and VTS_xx .ifo are consistant and just use (he) )... I bet most Software DVD players also won't work with it..
