I recently re-authored a menu for a DVD I made a year ago with DVDAuthor. Since the Gui or the program was limited in the number of buttons I could use on a single menu (I needed 27) I made one of the links go to a second menu that looked the same but had the other half of the buttons. Using it a year later I found I had forgotten how to use it and it was awkward anyway,so I re-authored with DVDRPro, by blanking the second menu and adding eleven buttons to the first menu. After figuring out the post commands everything works great except the new buttons don't change colors when selected or activated despite making the clut and selection scheme the same as the original buttons.
The posts I've read on this say I need to author the menu elsewhere and import the block, but I don't have any program that will let me author with that many buttons on one menu. I looked at the subpicture section and it reads no subpicture both on the new and old buttons? Is there any other way to make the buttons created in DVDR show up when selected and activated?

Is your menu 4:3 or 16:9? 4:3 allows up to 36 buttons in one group per menu; 16:9 allows up to 18 buttons in 2 groups per menu: wide, and letterbox or pan/scan.

DRMPro allows you to add buttons (button hotspots/rectangles) but the highlight picture itself resides in the subpicture layer, which DRMPro cannot add. So you need to use an authoring software to create a new set of menu and replace over the old menu and fix the button commands afterwards, if needed.

DVDAuthor should allow you to add this many buttons. There are many others, freewares like DVDAuthorGUI, Gui for DVDAuthor (GFD), DVDStyler; commercials like DvdLab (Pro), DVD Workshop, NeroVision Express, TMPGEnc DVD Author, etc.

Thanks. It was 4:3 and I was able to fix it with GuiforDVDAuthor. I guess the limitation that program had was only in an earlier version. The latest version is so much better (particularly the chapter editor and the placement guides for the menu buttons).
