Cool Probably, what would be of the most desirable implements would be a process that would more accurately predict comversion folder sizes. This a monumental task due to the one major unknown factor, quality. Perhaps, users would even tolerate a wuick single pass, pre-quantitizer?

The old chesnut of either a merge/join facility as a tool within convertxtodvd (like tmpg enc 2.5 gives for mpegs) or the output of say a 2 cd avi as one series of vob files (like Nero) so the pause between the two files is not there on playback.

Cucusoft has had this for years and interestingly is one of the linked apps when install a newer version of convetxtodvd.

Hi all,

My feeling is to keep CxD as simple as possible.
Too many programs like Nero become bulky and you have to
install stuff you dont need.
So, any improvements or additions should focus on conversion speed and quality.

cheers

I agree with Kookee. CXDVD is a great program as it is. It accepts virtually any file and creates burn-ready DVD files. "No Frills", and it does the job. Sure it'd be nice to have GREAT menus, but that should be a separate application that can be "folded-into" CXDVD. Some folks don't care about menus....they just like to get a burnable file-set quickly and done well! Why make the main program a cumbersome beast?

CXDVD is NOT a video editor, and there shouldn't be an attempt to make it one. There are other aps, especially those by AVS software, that allow all kinds of manipulation of files. Let's not make CXDVD a "be-all-end-all' program.....that's how things quickly go down the tubes.

Frankly, I like CXDVD just the way it is. My puppy is my menu background and HE likes it too!!! Menus work....videos play.....sound quality is awesome...haven't had a failure on any dvd player I've used. As we say down here in the south: It jist don't git no better than that!

Just my nickels worth based on 30+ years of designing, developing, coding and implementing IT applications.

Adrian

I tend to agree, let it not become bloatware. But first & foremost how about getting version 2xxx as bug free as possible.

I would like to see:

1) The ability to set chapters to .001 of a second.

2) The ability to cut out parts from the video like commercials PRECISELYY (again, to .001 of a second), like in Nero VisionExpress. Of course when the part is cut out, it encodes to a single file.

3) The ability for you to choose which method of NTSC to PAL (or PAL to NTSC) conversion the program does: 3:2 pulldown (which I think is the way it's done at the moment) or PAL speedup (audio and video go 4.17% faster)

4) The ability for you to choose which format your menus are in (16:9 widescreen or 4:3 fullscreen) as when I watch my DVD's (which are almost always widescreen), the top of the menu isn't visibile when I watch it on my widescreen tv due to my tv trying to make the picture spread across the screen.

1) Agree.
2) Agree.
3) What is the point in that? Speedup can be done only if original is 24 FPS, and 3:2 pd only when original is 29.97 FPS.
4) DVD standard defines menus as 4:3 (square pixel, full 720x576PAL/480NTSC resolution). Your TV should recognize when picture has square pixels and when it has anamorphic widescreen and adjust screen to match. Is your TV in AUTO setting?

What I would like to see is all the bugs fixed (incorrect estimated size of final result, errors in the log about pulldown not being needed, even if it is needed and CxD actually does the pulldown) and a REALLY neat feature would be Multithreading/Dual Core support.

The ability to add sound in menu and also the ability to move titles in the menu. A nice dvd needs a nice menu. Wink
And also why don't you include a batch in the program, so that we don't have to use other applications? Smile

I agree with stefg and gorica. I also fell in love with ConvertXtoDVD because of it's abillity to create menus in a very easy way. But I would like to see more options for creating menus but without it being a hard option to do.

Ex. Move titles around, adding sounds/music to the menu, different titles buttons etc.

That would be nice (btw. excuse my english)

Ah yes, buttons in the menu that are more clear as to what is selected. When I burn two titles, it's not really clear which of the two titles is selected in the menu when one is just a white (?) box and the other a red one. Perhaps the possibility to add buttons images yourself (which would be gif, png, jpg, psd, whatever).
