loss of quality with computer animations (digital artwork)

I want to burn some computer animations (artwork) on DVD. The originals run perfect on Windows Media Player, but once converted to DVD, the animation doesn't play as smooth anymore, the images jump more or less (+/- two times a second) and the transitions aren't as smooth as the original. How can I get a better result please?
