| I have office 2007, but i installed photo editor from an old office 97 disk. Is there a conflict? I can get ahold of the 2000 version probably. I really like that old prog for its simplicity, I'd hate to be without it.

I just installed Office 2007 and Photo Editor from 2000 (didn't have 97 available). Image Resizer works fine.
Don't you have it in context menus at all (i.e. not for folders either) or is it missing just for some file types?

| Just like the thread starter, it shows up on right click for .gif and for folders, but not jpg.

Could you import the reg file I attached and try if that works?
Make sure to backup your jpegfile key before.

Phil
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Okay I tried your reg and then I rebooted. Then I prayed to all the gods and/or dieties that may or probably don't exist. And surprise, surprise...no dice.
Now these things always have a simple solution, so I'm not too worried. However, this Vista is a little annoying in that all the things I could easily fix in previous Windows versions are now obfuscated and tricky.
I will try a couple of things and let you know.
Cheers, Tony

I uninstalled the older application and re-booted and then installed the new version.
Still no right click for .jpg.
Any help in sight?

We are still unable to reproduce this problem on our test machines. We will continue to test on more systems though.
In the meantime, everyone experiencing problems please list the following information that might be helpful for us:
1) Computer's brand/model (if applicable)
2) Vista version + 32 or 64 bit?
3) Is it a new machine that came with Vista pre-installed or did you install it yourself?
4) Only if installed by yourself: did you do a clean install or upgrade over XP?
5) In case there is a security package or seperate security applications (antivirus, firewall, etc) installed on the system, specify which one(s).
Thank you!

1) HP Pavilian zd8000 laptop
2) Vista Home 32 bit
3) It did not come with Vista but did come with XP sp2
4) I formatted/installed XP and then up graded to Vista. This is before I found out the way to clean install a Vista upgrade.
5) Running Windows Live One Care.

I think I finally found what's causing the issue.
In case the file type association for a given image type has been modified, Image Resizer has to be re-installed in order to get the context menu entry back.
Sometimes just re-installing will not help though, due to some other registry setting that got changed. In such a case run the reg file in the attachment. This should solve the problem!
Please report back if this did it for you...

OK, here is something interesting I found after running the resizer_repair.zip file.
To start with I am running Vista home premium and Office 2007 standard.
After running the resizer_repair.zip fix all was well with the right click on .jpg files as the resize was once again showing when the file was right clicked on.
I noticed that the default app to open .jpg files had changed from my preferred Microsoft Office Picture Manager application to the Vista Windows Photo Gallery application.
If this default was left intact all was still well. If I changed the default viewer back to the Office Picture Manager Application things became broken again until I ran the resizer_repair.zip file again.
Office Picture Manager/resizer conflict?
What do you think?

Worked fine for me thanks Phil. I only noticed today that I couldn't access it from the right-click menu on .jpg files and this fixed it.
Have you found out the reason as to why the right-click menu changes style that I pointed out earlier?
