Hi:
I recently cleaned my system and installed a fresh copy of WinXP with SP2. The machine has 2 DVD drives. Toshiba DVD/CD-RW and a SONY DRU-540A DVD-RW. Both these drives were working fine with Win2k. However since installing WinXP, none of the 2 drives will play DVD-R video's. They seem to play the DVD+R videos fine. I have NERO v6 installed on the machine. When I try to insert a blank DVD-R into the Sony drive, it start NERO and I am able to burn a DVD fine. However when I eject the disc after completion and re-insert it, it fails to start up or recognize - cannot even see contents using Windows Explorer. The DVD-R plays fine on a player and even reads fine in other computer - so the media is not the problem.
When I use DVD+R media, I am able to burn fine and then eject and re-insert and everything works fine.
I read about UpperFilters and LowerFilters and in my registry, the UpperFilters value is blank. The LowerFilters is PxHelp20.sys
Really appreciate any help in this as I have a lot of information stored on DVD-R drives (video + other files) and don't want to lose those.
TIA.. |
