I am sure you have heard this one many times before, but i will ask again. i need a new computer, mine is about 5 yrs old and just does not have the speed i want. i know that i want good speed and will copy dvds, keep pictures and edit them very little. the rest is basic use. but i also want to be able to go to google earth and that is streaming. my computer keeps freezing. not enough power, but it a good Dell. i know approximately what i want, i also do not want to pay a fortune. $600 is about my limit. i do not need monitor, speakers, mouse, etc. just the cpu. any one has any suggestions? tips on what to choose, or where i can find good read on the subject? good deals? i did look at cnet. i am not sure if i like their choices. i also found that i don't always agree with their reviews and ratings. thanks for your help. |

| Hello, try looking around on pricegrabber.com. they have a lot of filters (like price range, and features) that you can set, and pick your best deal from there. |

| I would recomend building your own if you have the patience. An Asus mobbo and mid range cpu along with a pCI express gcard will not set you back much compared to the performance you will gain. I do not like pre buuilt PCs as you never know what cheap nasty they have put in to it to make it competitive in price. All you need is ram, cpu, heatsink, power supply, mobbo ( built in sound on asus mobbos are decent enuff in my opinion ) and a nice sterdy case. |

| If at all possible, build your own If you want to buy one, get a Dell. Good prices, decent support and good parts. You will NOT be able to do much, if any upgrading, to a boughten PC. |
