hi all.... i have been out of the hardware loop for a while now so im a bit behind the times... i have an AMD athlon +3000 xp, asus nvidia 6800 agp ( just bought ) 1gig of pc2700 ( want to upgrade..) Mobo - Asus A7N8X-X - nforce2, 400mhz fsb im trying to buy as many bits as poss, that i can use now, before the 64 bit upgrade. i want to try and minimize the cost of the final step to possibly just the cpu and Mobo.. my question is this: can i use SAMSUNG 1GB DDR2 DIMM REG PC3200 Specification: 1.0GB 184pin DDR2 DIMM 128Mx64 non ECC gold leads unbuffered 1.8 volts PC2-3200 spec 400Mhz SPD CAS 3 latency max 1.25 inches tall with my current system and use it on my new 64bit system when i get it?

Hi chuck norris and welcome to our forums. I see no reason why your Samsung RAM shouldn't work in the X64 setup. I would just make sure your new motherboard support DDR 2 ram ( which a decent one should but always make sure )

Your current system won't support DDR2. The new system might if you are going to use either an Intel processor, that means you can buy the new system pretty soon... or when you use the new AMD Athlon M2 socket processors whch aren't available yet. Since you say cost is something you look for, my guess is you have been looking at current Athlon processors, if that's the case... then they won't support DDR2 either.
