Hello regret as I have said in earlier media query I am a bit new to DVD recording. I am looking for a piece of software tha will meet my requirements but despite several searches cannot actually realte my needs to the software descriptions I have a stand alone domestic DVD+/-R/RW recorder. I also have a PC with a separate DVD player and a DVD +/-R/RW burner. My special requirement is as follows:- I have got 10 years worth of family camcorder S-VHS-C tapes and 6 years worth of similar footage on DV tapes. I can quite easily transfer all of these tapes to DVD using my domestic DVD recorder with input either from either my S-VHS VCR (using the VHS-C tape adapter) or my DV camcorder via an S-Video link. No I cannot connect my DV camcorder direct to my PC using firewire or iLink as my DV camcorder(Panasonic) was one of the first (1999) and does not have this facility. What I had planned to do was to stream all these tapes on to DVD at the highest quality as befits their pedigree. I then would like to load all or at least several these tapes onto my PC hard drive (250GB). I would then like to view and select scenes from these multiple DVD images to build a DVD of specific interest to specific members of my family e.g. my sons marathon canoeing exploits. And then of course to burn this to perhaps multiple DVD copies. I am sure that there is S/W out there that will adddress my requirement but I cannot be sure from their posted descriptions that they will do what I want I would gratefully welcome any experiences from forum members who have carried out similar editing/compilation.

Hi The ULead trial ldownload did not work but saw this packaage in hard copy in PCWorld for less than download price so bought it. Must say that on first couple of test projects it is brilliant, easy to use and "where you are" previews abound. However a few rookie problems that are not obvious in software. I can import audio from a CD or from theS/W offerings. How do I import audio files from my own folders? Where do I access the burned quality settings. The couple of experiments I have tried to take the end result down a level in terms of the original material recorded on a multiformat under-the-teleDVD recorder i.e. XP appears as SP and SP original gives LP qaulity. I have tried this both with off-air material and camera footage originals. As far as I can see I have to render the project to video file BEFORE burning to disc? If this is so why is create disc option available along with rendering? My attempts to create DVD immedately on entering SHARE have met with zero success resulting in no expense but some disappointed people.
