|
|
| Dear all, I did my first burn with LG GSA 4167B with Roxio 8 on to a 16x DVD+R (Memorex) disc producing a data disc containing some avi files. But they read ok on my LG GSA 4167B but not on my other computers combi drive (dvd rom reader only) or my dvd player (which can read avi files - although not play them well). I have updated the firmware to DL12 before I did the burn. (I have a 800MHz AMD duron and a Elitegroup mainboard k7VZA). All I wanted was a simple data DVD+R disc that can be read in other computers not necessarily the dvd home player. Does anyone know what i might have done wrong? Thanks in advance. |

| well i found out that the combi drive is a dvd-rom and that it is most likely that old drives won't read the dvd+r format. As for the dvd player not sure why it didnt work. Dvd booklet says disc should be iso 9660 and video format. |

You are not alone with your issues. I have a 4166B that will read anything I chuck at it even though most over readers will see poor results. Seems the LG can read almost anything ( and I am not sure how good a thing this is ) Memorex in all fairness dont use great 16x media either try slowing it down to 12x and 8x as tests and see if these discs are readable on other devices. |

| i did the burn at 4x since i dont think the comp could take 16x. Going to maybe buy new media prob verbatim and look into setting booktype which is supposed to help recognition in other dvd-rom players. Apparently roxio does not support bootype but nero does. Also there is a new firmware out for 4167B its DL13. |

| yeah i have found out that memorex media code is CMC MAG which is third grade quality, so gonna try something else probs verbs or taiyo yuden. Yeah i think firmware mainly helps with specific issues, i should have only flashed it if i had a problem. |
