I just bought a Nec 3550a dvd rw drive and the software i am using is the 1 click dvd software. Whenever i burn a dvd and play it on my Coby dvd-925 player the dvd's always skip or freeze. I burn them at 4x, i even switched my nec 3550a drive to 4x and still get problems. I use dvd+r disks. Ive used fuji, memorex(which are terrible and skip every two seconds),Verbatium DL(which skip), Ritek ridata DL(skips every so often). my comp specs are: AMD athlon xp 2200+ 1.8 ghz 1 gig of ram

Hi chronzo There could be a few issues here. Firstly Is your 3550 fw uptodate? Are you doing anything in the background whilst burning? What software do you use besides 1click ( do u have virtual drives installed ? ) As to media - Fuji and memorex can be made by many different media companies and can be of varying quality. Verb DL should work at rated speed ok. Ridata DL can have issues at layer break. Now the 3550 doesn't set the booktype to dvdrom for DVD+R media which may have an impact on player compatiability ( they may play fine in some but not in others ) Can you try a DVD-R media to see if they skip?

Nope i shut everything down before i start burning. I use dvd43 for it to get rid of the codes. Ive tried a dvd-r and they still skip. Im not sure if my FW is up to date, I dont know how to check it. this is what it says on the site ND-3550A FW 1.05, the driver version it says on my comp is 5.1.2535.0. when i go to see what it says about the FW it says i should remove this. "This is a Windows-based flash utility. Using "Add or Remove Programs" on the "Control Panel", verify that neither of the following programs are installed on the system. These applications must be un-installed prior to proceeding or the firmware update will fail. + Intel Ultra-ATA Storage Driver + Intel Application Accelerator " when i check to see if i had either i didn't
