I recently backed up Polar Express R1, and had some minor problems. It has several sections of the movie that show written words (like newspaper headlines for example) in Spanish and French if you have that language selected. It does this not with angles, but by having three overlapping PGCs which use interleaved cells where the versions differ. The disc will actually fit on a single layer DVDR with that stuff out. Trying to remove these had me pulling my hair out. Just deleting the PGCs doesn't reduce the total size much, and after exporting and loading in DVDShrink it's apparent it exports the extra blocks unreferenced, to the tune of about 500MB. However, hiding all cells in the unwanted PGCs reduces the size significantly although still not as much as it should-the total size still shows greater than the sum by about 200MB. Then you can delete the PGCs and DVDShrink doesn't show anything unreferenced. Running the deep analysis in Shrink further reduces the size by the mystery 200MB (allowing a backup with no compression) so there still must be unneeded stuff in there though. Edit: Also, the exported DVD has incorrect time stamps starting from the first interleave spot, before loading in DVDShrink. It shows 3: hours plus.

OK. No need in NAVPacks. Indeed delete PGC did not deinterleave blocks and thus keept unreferenced cells. Will be fixed in next release. Regarding those 200Mb: do you know what was there? Is it some not removed streams?

That's possible. The unedited English PGC shows French and Spanish audio tracks with streams showing "not used." I didn't do anything with these in DVDRemake. When I get some time later today or so I will try to see what DVDShrink is taking out.
