| If I'm just looking to check a newly-burned cd-r for errors, is it better to use EAC (Exact Audio Copy) or something like CDCheck? I'm kinda new to this and am just looking for a basic program. |

| Hi will7 and welcome to our forums. You ask a very good question. I would say do a transfer test at maximum speed to see if you get a nice smooth graph. Then if you have the equipment a check for C1 C2 errors that might be seen whist trying to playback the media. This would be done using CDSpeed or a similar diag util. CDSpeed can also do a surface and file scan like cdcheck does. C2 errors although not harmful over a short period never bode well for long term lasting recordings. Do you have a liteon or plextor cdrw drive? these can scan for C1 C2 errors very efficently. I have found dvdrw drives to be less efficent for scanning cdr media. Hope this helps and let me know if you need any more info. |
