| I think the problem is that DVDs are written in Universal Disk Format. Once a disk's been written in that format you can use UDF apps (like PhotoDVD) to erase the content, but the format isn't changed. There may be an app out there that will do the format change, but I haven't found it! Ian G. |

Hi gooseballs and welcome to the forums. You can downlod copytodvd from vso software that has an erase disc option. Alternatively you can use nero cdspeeds erase disc option if you have nero installed as part of your dvd writer package. IanG's recomendation should also work |

| I tried CopyToDVD, but it didn't work - the quick erase just clears the content, and the complete one fails with the message "Error erasing media". I've tried a few programs, but not Nero, and they all behaved in much the same way. Ian G. |

| Hi to everybody, I have the same problem. I did some works on my dvd-rw discs and I can neither erase or format them. I have tried with Nero, Alcohol, PhotoDVD, even with the software included on my dvd writer with the same result. Also I downloaded several versions of UDF and ASPI controllers, Windows XP updates , etc and nothing. The problem also I have it with the cd-rw discs . perhaps is my dvd writer defective? although I keep on recording on discs dvd-r and cd-r without problems. And I remember that I could erase them and format them without problems. I am grateful for any help or suggestion. |
