It seems strange that VSO PhotoDVD doesn't have a "slideshow preview" feature. I really like the final results that I've seen so far, but I'm starting to get annoyed at how long it takes before I can see it ... Is there any reason for not having the feature currently? Is it just "in progress" (fair enough), or does it have more to do with taking too much processing to do in real time? Well, thanks for reading my message!

hello .. just bumping this message to see if anybody's interested .. There's a screensaver for Windows called iSlideshow that does the Ken Burns effect in real time. It's not as configurable as PhotoDVD because you can't choose a focus point. However, it is able to do the effect in real time. Hope it helps. http://www.cs.toronto.edu/~esteger/islideshow/

I agree that PhotoDVD is a great software, bau the lack of preview is terrible. Is it so difficult to make it? It seems strange that VSO PhotoDVD doesn't have a "slideshow preview" feature. Hello, Well, there is the option of course of using RW media, and there is the option to compile and send the output to a place on harddrive allowing you to view the slideshow before burning it. I understand none of this is very fast (depending on your computer). The reason as to why there is not preview for the moment is because compilation of the pictures with and movement using the ken burn effects and photo transitions creating and actual film/ (from still images) takes time. Ken burn affects actually analyzes each picture to find out which type of movement would compliment the picture the most, besides the ken burn affects during an image, there is also the transition between pictures that is implimented during those compilations. This does not mean a preview is impossible. A Preview is planned. The is no way to tell when this feature will be in PhotoDVD yet, but VSO has plans for this, it is just a matter of time.

Could you give us some idea of how PhotoDVD does that, please? I think it usualy gets it right, but it might be useful to know when I'm cropping or even taking the pictures. Ian G.

Hi there, By default PhotoDVD has the focus point in the middle. So if your subject is in the middle of the image, there should be no problems at all, regardless of the effect, PAN LEFT, PAN RIGHT, ZOOM IN, ZOOM OUT etc... If you do have 1 pix, and want the focus on the person on the left of the picture, you can tell PhotoDVD that the focus point is the person on the left. This will tell the software to manage THAT picture differently. My 2 cents...
