A. Landscape pictures Choose in the program 4:3 instead of 16:9!! You will have no black bars on youR TV and you will loss about 6,3 % on the left side, 2% on the right side, and if your TV has a vertical scroll function you can minimize the loss to 2% at the top and 2,4% at the bottom. If you cant afford any loss on the top or bottom crop the image first to 16:9 and choose in the program 16:9!! B. Portrait pictures Crop first to a 4:3 picture, if the result is acceptable apply A. This program is one of the few that produces +RW DVD acceptable for my BOSE 123 DVD player and gives a flicker free image on my Loewe TV

Hi there, I have also tested both format, and I prefer 4:3 much more than 16:9 I do not have a 16:9 TV but 4:3 fills the screen 100% and is way better. My 2 cents...

Subject heading is, "Best results on a 16:9 PAL TV". butanez: why choose 4:3 ???? that doesn't make sense!!! if you choose 4:3 then the dvd will always have black bars on left and right sides of screen.

It's the other way round for me - if I select 16:9, my 16:9 TV shows black bars and the horizontal pan just moves the entire picture from side to side. Selecting 4:3 gives me a full screen and the pan is a moving window. Ian G.
