VSO have released a new Patin-couffin driver Revision 19, hopefully this will fix many issues with various dvd writers such media issues and losing your External DVD Writer like my Sony DRX 510UL. I switched me dvd off with the Patin-couffin drivers installed and then swiched it back on, I just got a hardware error and the only way to fix it was to reboot and leave the dvd switched on all the time. Well I have installed these new drivers and I am going to test them to see if I can switch me dvd on and off in windows. So I believe from the copytocd/dvd post these drivers should allow you to use the aspi layer if the user needs it and still be able to access your hardware. If you removed the other revisons of Patin-couffin drivers and used the 4.60 aspi layer(the best)and tried to use copytocd/dvd or Blindwrite you got a message cannot access hardware. Here is the url http://vso.nerim.net/patin-couffin_setup_19.exe I will post my results after I have tested these new drivers. Greets as always.....Intercept Very Happy ___________________________ Nope I still lose me External drive and have to reboot to get it back, not good, means I have to leave me dvd switched on all the time Confused

if it is still happening with your ASPI layer, then it leads me to believe it is a external bay issue ( mabe windows drivers for these are not very good )

If someone needs an improved one, let me know, maybe this will fix the external problem?

Aspi 4.60 doesn't work for most usb devices....later Aspi revisions or SPTI do.

Yo Dude, if I use the 4.60 aspi layer, being the most stable one, I have no probs. To flash the drive you have to connect via a USB port, as windows cannot detect it on the Firewire port. The Flash process starts before Windows finally loads up. Now I have found a problem the Pat-coffin drivers like USB but hate Firewire. I don't use the USB Port as I get probs with me system, as soon as it is on the firewire it works great. I still think USB 2.0 is unstable with my Sony external drive. I am curious if other people who visit this forum have a similar problem Greets Intercept..... Very Happy
