'IO error' 'Cannot write medium, impotabible format'. The medium that imusing is Traxdata DVD +R DL 8.5gb. I have tried another disk and the same erro message appears. Any ideas?

Try burning programs like Nero 6.6 or CopyToDVD 3.0. These burning programs support writing DVD+R DL.

Hi shere and welcome to our forums. DVD sizes are confusing as although the DVD+R D/l will state it holds 8.5gb, the amount of data minus overheads needed are actually 7.9GB which means your DVD will need compressing. You can either use a transcoder such as 1ClickDVDCopy, Nero Recode or the like to achieve this. Many users prefer different types of software dependant on their backup needs which is why we compiled this DVD Comparison to give readers our opinions on some popular titles. Another way to go about this is to use a software such as DvdreMake or DvdreMakePro to remove unwanted stuff from the DVD such as trailers or extras or even foreign audio. This would result a lot of the time in no need for DVD+R D/L to be required or even if DVD+R D/L is required no compression would be needed.

Are you sure that NEC 3500 supports Ritek DL media? I have no clue. If you ripped a DL DVD to ISO to your HD, it should be fine to write it back to a DL media using lates DVD Decrypter (3.5.2.0) selecting the mds file. Try it with a Verbatim DL disc first.
