I have a problem with my DVD+-RW player and burner. On my notebook Dell Inspiron 1150 I always used the Sony DVD+-RW DW-D56A to listen to music etc. Now it suddenly stopped playing a song, and after that it cannot recognize any audio CD, software-CD or data-CD-R. Playing DVDs is no problem. What can be wrong? Regards, Gerhard

The drive itself has a whole range of problems related to it, sadly. From the sound of it, you might want to try using a cleaning kit on the drive. Let us know if that helps any. Cheers,

That could not work for me, because I do not have that program on my laptop. Thanks anyway. The solution which worked for me was to call Dell and get a new DVD+-RW burner and player. The laser was broken and thereby could not "find" the begin of any CD. Regards, Gerhard

Lol! Dell' post on filters! marvellous! If you want to know if you have filters, be sure to check out the filter checking tool we have in a sticky in the hardware section. I might wanna add Dell's solution are only half matters, you need to remove the filter's service section too, because it runs as a service in most cases.

Regards, Gerhard | I to didn't have that software on my computer, but the solution worked. Fortunately your warranty had not expired. |
