hsve been burning fine till yesterday.started to coaster many dvds.switched to different media w/ no luck,used diff programs nero dvd decrip clone dvd no good.cds will burn though thanks for any ideas jack

Hi Jack and welcome to the forum. One of the most annoying things is when a perfect system starts to let you down. Please could you provide some more information: Name of writer and firmware revision. Media used Have you any packet writing software such as INCD running. Are you running a Nortons product? There are a few reasons why CD and not DVD will record. One of the main reasons found was running an old version of CopyToDVD with Nortons Anti Virus 2004 installed. We will try to help you track where things first started to go wrong and the more info you can give the easier this will be.

thanks alot for the quick reponse.I appreciate it.I added a memorex burner after a few years.memorex dvdrw +/- True 8x, I use avg have been for a while.I used nortons before the writer long before.no software.I use fuji & sony as I had trouble with some no name brands.Then I got a diff type error -calibration which was strictkly due to media.AS I said this happened overnight,good one minute then bam.The only thing that happened around the same time was I got the new vers od dvd decrip so I switched back with no luck though thanks again jack

I'm not quite sure exactly what firmware revision is but I'll look into it now

It could be a case of too many recording software interferring with each other. Even thogh you may have unistalled them all, registry entries can still be left. have you tried unistalling every piece of recording software and then disabling the XP built in rcording software? ( to do this right click on your recordable drive im my computer and choose properties) Now install one software only dows the issue remain?
