|
|
Hello
My OS is WinXP Pro.
I am using DVDRemake to Merge two DVDs (one PAL and the other in NTSC, first one in 4:3 and the other 16:9) and I am facing a serious problem.
I did the following:
1. I have added Two VIDEO_TS folders using "Import DVD" function.
2. I used Tools>Merge to merge the DVDs. I got a new project window named as Project 3.
3. I used "Export DVD" feature to get the DVD files in a HDD folder.
Problem:
If I drag and drop the result folder in VLC (thats the MM Player I use), it can not be played.
The Target folder is way above the preset size (DVD5) in the Export/Import setting.
Please correct me if I am wrong:
Isn't this program supposed to keep all the original Menus of the respective movie and re encode the input DVDs to fit in the Target Size?
Please tell me how can I solve this issue?
Thank you. |

What version of DvdReMake are you using? Pro?
Yes, the Merge feature retains the original menus and navigation of each DVD. And no, this program does not re-encode to fit the specified target size. The preset DVD5 target size is there to help you see, after all the editing, if the final compilation will fit in a DVD5. You can see the final size in the DVD Tree (left side of main window). Should the final size be over the target size, it will turn orange, and if you hover the mouse over it, a pop up message will display how much the DVD is over the target size.
You can use another program of your choice to re-encode the final DVD to fit into a DVD5. |

Hello toaddub
Thank you for your reply.
Its the Free version, so I can only merge two DVDs.
But why the resultant folder is not playable could you please tell me that? Is it because two movies have different frame rates? |

DvdReMake is not free. Maybe you mean the regular version. I was actually asking for the specific version number you're using.
Before the merge, does each movie have some video content in the Video Manager domain? Is there any red highlighted items in the DVD tree? Any error reported in the Log?
Maybe VLC does not like to play both PAL and NTSC format in one DVD as each format is in its own VTS? I don't see why not though. Check the VLC configuration setting to make sure. Have you tried playing other software players beside VLC, like WinDVD, PowerDVD, Media Player Classic, Showtime? |

In one of the DVD structure (PAL one), I can see that under Video Manager there is Menus en. That one contains .01Mb of data. The other item in this DVD structure is Title Set 1 containing about 4.46 GB of Data.
In the other one (NTSC), I could not find anything under Video Manager> Menus en. It is showing 0Mb of data. But there are a lot of title set afterwards containing rest of the DVD data. The largest of that is the Title Set 1 containing about3.5GB of data.
I'll try as you said regarding other media players and post the feed back here in a while.
Thank you for your support. |

Ok here is the feedback:
1. There is no Red mark in either of the imported DVD trees.
2. The VIDEO_TS folder in which I have put the merged output can be played only with PowerDVD and nothing else. Though the problems are:
1. It seems that there is no way to select between which movie I want to play first.
2. The second movie's (PAL) Menus are incomplete. Only one Menu Page (one of the Three Scene Selection Menu Pages) can be seen and I can not seem to navigate back or forward using that menu.
Is there any solution?
Thank you. |

What version of DvdReMake are you using?
At start up, you should see a default DvdReMake disk selection menu that allows you to choose which movie you want to play. To get back to this menu, select Title on your remote.
As for the PAL menus, can you navigate around it before the merge? DvdReMake does not alter the menu navigation in any way after the merge. |

Hello toaddub
I am using ver 3.6.1
Yes I could navigate through the menus.
Sorry I must have missed...I could not find out (still) from where I can set the option and nor did it result in the final VIDEO_TS folder (at least PowerDVD could not find anything. |

| Since you can already navigate the menus, 3.6.2 should fix the problem you're having. |

| The disk selection menu is in the last VTS/Menus after the merge. When you're playing with the software player, you should see it. |

Thanks for the reply.
So you mean that the disc selection menu will be added automatically? I do not have to chose any settings? |
