Poor quality

I've copied a football match on to dvd from a dvd recorder hard drive. As the total time of the coverage was around 4 hours, i divided the title into 2 sections and added both sections on to convertxtodvd to enable me to fit the program on one disc. The quality is good when there isn't much movement (ie commentators speaking) however, when the game is on it gets quite blurry. Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

You might try using a low quality setting instead of medium. That sounds counter intuitive but there is a reason.

There is a fixed space to fit long videos onto a DVD, so compromises have to be made for them. I did some tests to see for myself what each quality setting does ( http://forums.vso-software.fr/encoder-quality-settings-t89.html ). Basically high quality tries to use a compromise that doesn't favor fast action much over low action. It should work good for videos up to about 75 to 90 min depending on video content. Medium quality devotes more emphasis to the action scenes and low quality even more.

So low quality may be better, but it won't make much difference unless the low movement scenes are a significant part of the overall. You may need to convert each of your two titles to separate DVDs to make much difference.

Couple of other things:

If you don't check the 'Burn result to DVD' option, you can play the files written to your hard drive, check them, and then burn them later (Action/Burn existing DVD in ConvertX menu)

If 4x is the max burn speed for your discs, use 2x. Using burn speeds of 1/2 or less of the rated speed improves reliability of the burn. That won't affect playback quality, but it decreases the chance that the burned DVD will cause playback problems.
