|

Hi,
Desktop has HP DVD writer 640c, which suddenly went missing from the explorer and was replaced with the CD-ROM. The DVD burning software (Sonic) fails to recognize the drive as a writer (for both CD and DVD).
Updated the firmware for the writer from the HP site. Did not help. Uninstalled Sonic and reinstalled did not help.
Removed the writer using the hardware manager and reinstalled the same. No solution.
Can anyone help in this situation?
The PC operates on XP with Pentium D chip with 1 GB RAM.
The drives have no problem in reading CD and DVDs.
Any solution to this problem would be appreciated.
