Hello, recently i was converting some movies to DVD.

My problem: i have different movies with different ratios, so the subtitle stays the same position with each movie, and that i dont want because or else the subtitle would be on the black windows.

Movie1: 580x242 resolution.
Movie2: 656x272 resolution.
Movie3: 612x250 resolution.

What can i do to let the subtitle change automatically with each movies, so the subtitle would be precisely on the right position below.

If you can't position it better with CxD subtitle settings - nothing.
All movies are converted to 720x576 (PAL) or 720x480 (NTSC).
If movie is wider than 16:9 then there will be black borders to fill screen.

I have the same problem. Since guys who wrote the program don't want to do anything about it, I do it like this:

1. Cut 5 second from wanted movie
2. Make .srt subtitles - they should be two lines, start at 00:00:00 end 00:00:05
3. Load those 5 second fragmet of movie and load 5 sec subtitles

Now you see where subtitles are placed.

4. Change their position as needed - and convert again.
After some time you'll need about 3 tries per movie to guess proper hight value.

* Note: each time when you change sub hight value you have to remove movie from CXto DVD and load it again... If you don't, it will be converted with old setting. I really don't understand why they don't put it in preview, things would be so simple then...

Actually, this is really stupid procedure to do for each movie, so I'm thinking about giving up mpeg 2 and watch movies in divx or to search for some other program with better solution for subtitles...
