|
|
Hi All,
First of all, thanks for looking and this is my first post...
I bought a new DVD RW drive (Liteon DH20A1P) Installed it...
However, the drive shows on start up, and the green light comes on, but when in XP, and I put a disc in the drive it will not recognise the disc at all, and I have put programs and blank discs in there.
When I go to device manager, windows says that the device is working properly...
Please help!!! |

Hi RickG and welcome to CDR-Zone forums
Maybe the drive doesn't have a properly assigned drive letter yet, or another device is competing for the same drive letter as your DVD drive.
To check and test if that's the case try this:
- Click Start > Run and type diskmgmt.msc in the Open: line and click OK. The Disk Management snap-in will open.
- Right click on the DVD drive and choose 'Change drive letter and paths'.
- The next dialog shows the drive and now press the Change button and assign a new drive letter, my suggestion try Z.
- Press OK on all dialogs and close out the Disk Management snap-in.
Now see if you can insert a disc and if it is read.
Good luck, |

Hi Ulukai
Many thanks for your reply, but unfortunatly it didn't work, simply will not read a disc. when I double click on it, it opens a window but nothing is showing.
I do get an error on startup something like...
Secondary IDE channel no 80 conductor cable installed.
Is this the problem? because my last dvd rw didn't have this problem...
I'm sure its a great drive, it must be a dud one. |

| As I haven't played with IDE Flatcables lately anymore... i'm a bit hazy. Isn't 80 pin cables for UDMA 100 or 133? Maybe the cable that's attached to the drive simply won't allow it to run properly in Windows. Might be worth to change the cabling. |
