You are being conservative...I'm showing a speed increase of 33%
Encoding a 3.35x
Thank you! |

One 1 test, I increased 30%
The 20% value is VSO that said that, so yes I guess they do not want to say 30% then people with 20%, 25% will complain, how come I'm only getting 27% and not 30%
You know how we (users) are |

Hi Tabbs,
My results were even more dramatic, an ~ 50% encoding rate increase for a 4386MB VOB folder(using v2.1.14.233 as a reference)! Of course it's related to the quality of the PC hardware involved, combinations and qualitity of files being converted, tasks running in background; but everyone should get a dramatic processing time decrease.
Even more amazing, there's only a minor resulting reduction in the final video quality! |

| hey geronimo, when you say "minor" reduction in video quality just how minor is it? i would chose quality over encoding time anyday so if the quality reduction is noticable then an upgrade to 220251 may not be the best idea. (for me anyway). thanks ... john |

It's faster alright, but it has some SERIOUS bugs!!
I added two movies to a project and started encoding, about 3 hrs of video encoded in 1 hour, impressive (2,5x)
But, there's a "little" problem...the first movie lacks video!!!!!! the second turned out ok.
the first one is an avi file, encoded with XVID & MP3
the second one is also an avi file, encoded with DivX 5 & mp3
I forgot to mention that even though the first movie has no video, the subtitles DO show up in sync with the audio...
I don't know what it is but there's something very wrong there
Plus, the expected size of the project is always wrong. no matter what you add it will ALWAYS say "size of the project 4.23GB" on the log, but the status bar shows a more realistic value, which is also way off from the final size...
Also, no matter what the movie is (PAL or NTSC), the log ALWAYS says no pulldown required, when it actually is required and it does it, even though it (wrongly) said it was not required.
this last bugs are not new, have been there forever...
bye! |

My first test with v2.2.0251, in comparison with v2.1.14.223, resulted in encoding a 4386MB vob fldr in 58min as opposed to 2:06hrs with 2.1.14. There was a decrease in final avg. bitrate of 0.3%( hi qual. setting). In my world, that's called extremely minor! The disc burned and played flawlessly.
Everbody has diferent combinations of PC components/software, operating circumstances, and experience. If you have a problem, post it, along with a log. That's what the forum's is here for! |

Ok, I played a little bit more with CxD and the files I mentioned above.
I converted the xvid file to divx using Virtualdub and re-converted it with CxD, this time, the result came out just fine.
So, either CxD has issues with XviD or the source file had some kind of glitch or something.
bye! |

hi geronimo, thanks for the info, i agree that a .3% reduction in bitrate is very minor -- when you said quality reduction i assumed you were talking about something you could noticably see in the converted video. i'm converting an xvid avi file now , we'll see how it turns out and hopefully it will not lack video like the problem jvidal was talking about ... john
ps - also i didn't see the setting for "fit to screen" as mentioned in the version history page. |

Hello Jvidal,
If you are sure about there being a problem with xvid fiel support, would you be willing to post a log file of that conversion with latest version?
And maybe upload file to VSO if needed?
Thanks, |
