|
I installed the new version of the image resize in my Vista installation and now have no right click option in explorer.
For some strange reason I think it was there for awhile.
I have tried uninstalling the utility and reinstalling it but that did not help.
It was the latest version form the web site.
Thanks for any help in advance. Bob. |

Hi Bob,
which version of Vista are you running? 32 or 64 bit? |

Well, I'm not sure. I am using the 32 bit Vista Home Standard though.
It's the one I downloaded from the VSO web site site at:
http://www.vso-software.fr/download.php
How can I tell? I see no help/about in the interface to find out.
Thanks in advance. Bob.

If you run it via start menu, then select a picture to process, you can click on the system menu (left icon in the titlebar) and select About. Make sure it reads version 1.0.11.52 ...
Also, did you check the context menu on several file types (bitmap, jpeg, gif, folders)? It would be interesting if it's just missing for some or for all of them. |

Yes it is version 1.0.11.52.
And you are right in that the contact menu does show up when right clicking a .gif file type but does not when a .jpg is selected.
Since almost all of my photos are in .jpg format that is when the utility would be the most helpful.
Any ideas?
Thanks again in advance. Bob. |

OK, I guess we will have to add the corresponding registry keys manually as setup for some reason failed to do so.
For this you need to export a registry file, which I should be able to modify to make it work for jpeg files.
If you are familiar with regedit, this shouldn't be a big deal. Here's what you have to do:
1. Open regedit (by typing it into start menu's search panel)
2. Navigate to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.jpg
3. Note the value appearing under "(Default)" on the right (ie. "jpegfile")
4. Now navigate to the according key (ie. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile) and right-click on it, then select Export to save it as a registry file.
5. Post this file here, so I will be able to see what's wrong. |

Thanks for the idea but this forum will not let me attach files.
The root.jpg lists: (Default) REG_SZ ImageResizer.Image
The default for the root jpegfile: (Default) REG_SZ JPEG Image
Is there another way to send it?
Again, Thanks in advance. Bob. |

I am running Windows Vista Ultimate x64.
I have some problems on VSO Image Resizer.
First, right click on the image will not work on any type of image files.
Second, I can't resize image files to different folder. It only can resize files to same folder and to replace the original files. |

daletu, did you install the latest version from the website and did you maybe install a previous version before?
What happens when you try to resize to a different folder?
Please post the log if possible (log can be found in C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming\VSO\ImageResizer.log). |

On the subject of Right Click in Vista, I'm using version 1.0.11.52 and it's working great and all, but it seems to change the look of the Vista right-click menu when installed.
By default in Vista there is a line separating the icons from the text however when the Image Resizer is installed this line disappears and the menu looks slightly different. Is there any way to fix this?
I know it's only a small issue but it really bugs me! |

Thank you for looking into it Phil. I know it is only a very minor issue but it is annoying nonetheless |

Back to the right click problem with vista...
I am experiencing the same symptoms as the thread starter.
Here is the registry entry you asked him for:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile]
@="JPEG Image"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile\CLSID]
@="{11943940-36DE-11CF-953E-00C0A84029E9}"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile\DefaultIcon]
@="C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\Microsoft Shared\\PhotoEd\\PhotoEd.exe,4"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile\shell]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile\shell\open]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile\shell\open\command]
@="C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\Microsoft Shared\\PhotoEd\\PhotoEd.exe \"%1\""
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile\shell\print]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile\shell\print\command]
@="C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\Microsoft Shared\\PhotoEd\\PhotoEd.exe /p \"%1\""
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile\shell\printto]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile\shell\printto\command]
@="C:\\Program Files\\Common Files\\Microsoft Shared\\PhotoEd\\PhotoEd.exe /pt \"%1\" \"%2\" \"%3\" \"%4\" "
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile\shellex]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers]
@=""
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\jpegfile\shellex\ContextMenuHandlers\ImageResizer]
@="{2BB59FC0-31E8-42DA-9D3C-E9A52953853B}"
I'm using Vista Home Premium 32 and the newest VSO Image Resizer.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is a very useful little prog for me.
Cheers, Tony |

| I assume that PhotoEd is part of your Office installation. If so, which version of Office is installed on your system? |
