Trouble burning music video files to dvd

I hope I have the right web site for this problem. I have downloaded some music files from lime wire. I have tried everything to get them onto a dvd. I tried convertx to dvd but had a problem. It would go through everything and say the burn was finish but when I try to play it I get a message saying "dvd video play back graph building failed". What in the world am I doing wrong? I am new to this and really need some easy step by steps. If it matters I have tried deep burner, nero, media player and div x. I am operating on windows xp. Any help would be appreciated. Shannon

Hi there, I have a few questions for ya. 1) You said you downloaded music files. Are those files .MP3 format ? Are they video files ? .AVI / .MPG etc.. ? 2) What do you wish to do ? Burn those files as DATA to save ? They are video files, you wish to convert to DVD and watch on your TV (DVD Player) ? CopyToDVD will let you burn DATA to a DVD media, or already converted video files to DVD format. ConvertXtoDVD is used to convert video files to DVD format (And can also burn them to DVD). When converting video files to DVD, you need to make sure you convert them in the TV Standard of your region. NTSC for Canada, USA and PAL mostly in europe. To prevent playback issues, use quality media like Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden and do not burn at MAX speed. Now that said, to see what is going on, please provide us CopyToDVD and/or ConvertXtoDVD logs, so we can see what happened. I hope you can find success soon

Hi there to answer some of your questions. 1) I have tried downloading music video files, not just music files from lime wire. I have tried downloading them as avi and mpeg. Lime wire does not have a choice mp3. What they do have is avi, mov, mp4, mpe and mpg. So, I save them onto my computer and usually try to put them onto my desktop or documents otherwise I get confused and sometimes I can't find them. 2) I wish to burn them onto a dvd to watch either on my computer or my dvd player. So I need to convert I assume. I have tried and tried and must be doing something wrong. As far as burning them as data I have failed at that as well. Do I need to save them as data? I have no clue here 1) After I download the video music files (and what should I save them as?) do I then need to convert them and if so how? 2) After converting then what? I tried to convert and would get messages like "graphic building failed" or when the burn says it worked I try to play the dvd and I get the message saying "no dvd is in the drive" Ahhhhh.. I just want my videos onto a dvd I can watch. Can you please help me to have a clue? Can you walk me through step by step? Shannon

Ok, this is something else I just tried but of course failed. 1) Downloaded music video from limewire as a avi. 2) Saved it under my documents. 3) Opened up convertxtodvd. 4) Clicked onto convert which it went through and did it's thing. 5) Clicked onto burn and it went through and said it was complete. 6) I tried to play the dvd and got the message graph building failed. As far as the log goes it was soooo long it would of taken me all night to type out, I couldn't cut and paste it, sorry. Shannon

Hello again, Ok, so you wish to convert video files to DVD. Use the latest version of ConvertXtoDVD that can be found here: v2.0.13 --> http://download.vso-software.fr/vsoConvertXtoDVD2_setup.exe 1) Use ConvertXtoDVD as you did. 2) In the settings, make sure you have the proper TV Standard selected. (NTSC or PAL) 3) Make sure the output is set to DVD5 in the Encoding Tab. 4) Convert your video, you don't need to burn now, you can burn later. You can choose all those options in the settings. Once you are done, you can now find the log file here: C:\Documents and Settings\[USERNAME]\Application Data\Vso *or* re-start ConvertXtoDVD, and in the Help Menu, you have the Open Log File option. Copy and Paste us your last conversion. *** Ends Here *** *** Start Here *** And from there we will try to see what is going on !
