So, now you are an experienced DvdReMaker Would you share with others how you've handled this complex disk? If you put together a guide we can host it and (if needed) help with images (so that they look nice and fast to download) |

| I'll be glad to put something together when I can. But I need some help with adjusting the menu system to go directly to the "Director's Cut" title menu. Probably should start a new thread for this. I've read some of 2Cools guides and the guide on Dimadsoft's web page about eliminating dual aspect menu's and language selection menu's, but can't quite mentally associate that with the situation I have with Kate & Leopold. When the main menu starts, it goes to a 2-button menu to select "original theatrical version" or "director's cut". I want the main motion menu to end at the "director's cut" menu where you can select chapters, languages, subtitles, or play the movie. I know this has to work the same as eliminating dual aspect menus and going directly to the wide-screen or full-screen movie. |

| MackemX, Yes, I'm back. Been using DVDStripper successfully and am happy that you and Dimadsoft have joined forces for DVD stripping. I was one of your beta testers for DVDStripper. When I posted comments about Kate&Leopold, I think it was on doom9 and at that time the only way to get the movie version I wanted (minus menus) was with DVDShrink. When you deselect "combine titles", it shows all 4 versions as separate titles. Now with DVDRemake Pro, I'm learning to use a product that removes angles with a couple of clicks and then eliminate an unwanted PGC that interleaved the original version with the director's cut. I have been able to keep the menus for Kate&Leopold. But I have to allow a motion menu to flow into the version selection menu. The button that needs to be clicked on the version selection screen has a command "R[9] = 65521, LINKPGCTAIL". This would take me to the director's cut menu to start the movie, select scenes, languages, subtitles, etc. PGC 6 of the menu title (Title 2) of this movie contains the menu blocks. Block 1 is the first motion screen that feeds to block 2 the initial version selection 2-button menu. This short block feeds to a longer block (block 3) which has the same 2-button menu. If a button isn't clicked, block 3 returns to block 2 and block 2 feeds to block 3 again until a selection is made. Block 4 is the original version menu and block 5 is the director's cut menu. I tried to hide blocks 2, 3, & 4. Then I selected block one, clicked on the cell command tab, and added a 4th command "R[9] = 65521, LINKPGCTAIL". I then double clicked on block 1's cell to change the command it should execute at the end of playing the cell to my new 4th command. Since my new 4th command was the same command that would be executed if I clicked on the "director's cut" button, I expected block 1 to feed directly to block 5 the director's cut menu. However, in every case with blocks 2, 3, & 4 hidden, it would send me to the block 5 director's cut menu but appeared to be stuck in title 2. When I clicked on the "play movie" button it would recycle to block 1 and back to the director's cut menu instead of playing the movie. If I don't hide blocks 2, 3, & 4, it goes directly to block 5 and plays the movie when I click on the "play movie" button. Don't know why hiding blocks 2, 3, & 4 prevent block 5 from operating correctly. |

| Sorry for taking so long to do this, but here are my steps to removing angles in Kate & Leopold and forcing the by-pass of the version selection menu. Test, Test, Test before you burn. Kate & Leopold (NTSC, Region 1) The movie Kate & Leopold contains multi-angles for English titles and French titles. It also has multi-PGCs that contain the original theatrical version and the director’s cut version. Using DVD Remake Pro, you can remove the language angle you don’t want and you can remove the version of the movie you don’t want. After importing the DVD and ensuring you have selected the advanced options for using DVD Remake Pro, select title set one. When you right-click this title set, an additional pop-up menu appears. From this menu you can select “strip angles”. This brings up another window showing tabs for angle 1 and angle 2. By clicking and holding the mouse button down in the scroll bar, you can watch the movie for angle 1 or angle 2 to see which language the titles appear in. Once you have selected the tab for the angle you want to keep, click the option at the bottom of the window that says “keep this”. DVD Remake Pro will remove the other angle. After striping the unwanted angle, you have left the PGCs for the original theatrical view and the director’s cut in the language you selected during the angle removal process. Select Video Title Set 1. The way I determined which PGC contained the director’s cut was to know that the director’s cut was longer. I didn’t find or see an option to tell me the duration of each PGC, so I opened VTS_01_0.IFO in IFOEdit and looked at PGC_1 which was 1:58:00.29 and PGC_2 which was 2:02:47.09 long. So the director’s cut is in PGC_2 which is approximately 4 minutes longer than PGC_1. Open program chains under Video Title Set 1 to see PGC 1 and PGC 2. Select PGC 1, right-click, and select “hide all blocks”. This will leave you with PGC 2 the director’s cut. The menu system is in Title 2. The remaining Titles are previews, coming attractions, and bonus materials that can be removed by hiding blocks. There are other unnecessary/unwanted materials that can be hidden. To bypass the version selection menu, you need the command that selects the version you want. Expand Title Set 2 and the menu option. Expand the menu so you see the PGCs for the menus. Select PGC 6. In the window on the right will be the first block of PGC 6 and block 1 will be highlighted in the right pane. If you select each block one at a time, you will see what menu screens will be displayed for each block. Block 1 is the starting motion menu. Block 2 is the short block of the version selection menu. Block 3 is a longer continuation of the version selection menu. Block 4 is the original theatrical version menu. Block 5 is the director’s cut version menu. When block 2 or block 3 is displayed, pass your mouse over the version button you want. A floating text string will display showing what the command is. Write this down. Select block 1 again. Click on the cell command tab. Right click in the upper window showing the cell commands. Select “Add Command”. A NOP command will be inserted at the bottom. Double click on the NOP command and select “Edit Command”. When a new windows opens, click on the drop-down box and select “Set Instructions”. Place a checkmark in the “Set” box. The command I saw for selecting the director’s cut was “R[9] = 65521, LINKTAILPGC”. So click the drop-down box showing R[0] and change it to R[9]. Leave the equal sign in the next box. Click on the 3rd drop-down box and select “value” which is the very first option”. In the 4th box, type 65521. Click on the “link instruction” box and select “LINKTAILPGC”. Finally click on OK. Your new command will be on line 4 of the cell commands. Double click the line with block 1 cell information. Click the drop-down box containing “No Command” and change it to “4”. Click on OK. Do not hide any menu block between block 1 and block 5. Now hide any other unwanted blocks in the remaining titles, unwanted or un-needed buttons and have DVDRemake Pro create a test dvd. It should play the startup menu and jump to the director’s cut menu. Click on “Play Movie” and it should start playing short clips of the movie. Test the rest of the menu options you kept. When you are happy, have DVDRemake Pro create your final DVD. |
