Hello, I have tried Uluakai´s advice, here are the results First I tried changing to different CDs and cleaning the cd lens with a CD cleaning Kit and also with a dry q-tip with no success. - When I run the filter test I get this results: Upper Filter: None Lower Filter: pxhelp20 anydvd I turned off the filters and tried playing a CD, and the problem stills there. I turned the filters back on and after I reboot a window appears telling me that NeroCheck (I have Nero 7.0.5.4 Installed) has detected a problem with my CD drivers and that it has corrected the problem, but I need to reboot for the changes to be effective. When I reboot and try to play a CD I see that the problem continues. What am I doing wrong? PLEASE HELP!! Confused Thanks a lot in advance

i have a Sony DVD RW DW-D56A on my Dell Inspiron 9300 in which I had to re-install the OS. I downlaoded and installed the software mentioned above and the message "There is no upper filter" is displayed. Can you help me figure out my problem?

Can you provide us with a log mike? Off hand.. i'd suggest the cleaning kit too or to upgrade the firmware of the drive.

Hey Dave, Welcome to CDR-Zone and thanks for the tip. The firmware is available from the Sony site, I pressume? If Nero is causing problems in this situation, you could always try another software package for burning. I mean if that is what's causing the problems, why not switch?
