Many AVI`s have delay times set on the audio stream so that audio/video playback stays in sync..

Unfortunately ConvertXtoDVD ALWAYS reports

Stream #1 sync. delay :0.00 ms
Stream #0 sync. delay :0.00 ms

Consiquently, ConvertXtoDVD ignores audio delay and your dvd conversion becomes badly out of sync...

SOLUTION:

Download AVI-Mux GUI

http://www.divx-digest.com/software/avi-mux_gui.html

1) Load an avi into Avi_mux that you intend on converting to DVD
2) Select "Generate Data Source From Files" button.
3) Click on the AVI info at bottom of Avi-Mux window

IF YOU SEE "delay [ms]" showing anything other than "0" Process the avi by clicking the START button on AVI-MUX.

Takes only a few seconds and creates a corrected version of the offending avi file that IS IN-SYNC were both streams actually DO have

Stream #1 sync. delay :0.00 ms
Stream #0 sync. delay :0.00 ms

Sync problems thus removed when converting to DVD viaConvertXtoDVD. I am now a very happy bunny and have now totally uninstalled WinAvi.. I am now 100% ConvertXtoDVD user...

PS:

IF an AVI plays out of sync with playback software, this is an AVI problem and NOT a ConvertXtoDVD problem... There are many tutorials available showing you how to re-sync such files..

Hi there, What version are you using ? UPDATED Feb 22nd, 2006 VSO has released VSO ConvertXtoDVD v2.0.7.114 http://download.vso-software.fr/vsoConvertXtoDVD2_setup_207.exe In one of the versions, I think they added a something, a delay meter or something like this. It will show the 0ms delay info on the input file. Try the latest with those files, and let me know if there's still an out of sync with those files... Thank you very much for the above info, have dowloaded and will try if I come in a jam !

Hi there, v2.0.6.110 is released to ßeta testers like me, but available to provide to users with problems usually fixed by his version. So you need to download it with a direct link, and not from the public download from their website. Usually within a day or 2, after receiving feedback they make it public. Sometime it doesn't make it public since minor issues are found, and fixed and te next build goes throught the same process. Released to ßeta testers, and users with specific questions/problems, then if all ok, makes it to the public Smile

Il let you know if the final dvd is in sync, if it is, im gonna love you!!!! been drivin me mad 4 weeks! i take it u were making a dvd with a few 'videos' on it then like me??? is it all in sync now since u ran it through that program? Thanks, Jay :-i

Hi there, This little software also fixed a video that was out of sync. Thank you ! I have sent a full detailed report to VSO (AVI Mux GUI log) and ConvertXtoDVD log + uploaded the file to VSO so VSO Developpers can have a look. Let's see what they say !

Sorry, but I have to admit this is an incredible program! Especially the little program that was reccommended here that checks your avi files will be in sync when converted!!!!!!! Brilliant, solved all my probs. Only question i have is - the aspect ratio - i have several widescreen video's - do i set ratio to full screen or widescreen? i thought widescreen might effect the picture like quash it or something??

Widescreen just tells TV that pixels are not square; in "normal" 4:3 TV this kind of movie will be shown letterboxed. Usually it is best to leave that setting to "Automatic".

ramog, Alright, I used the program AVI_mux but for some reason it won't play in my media player, and it says that I'm missing a codec. What codec do i need? I'm pretty sure, I've got practically everyone thats important.

jaydog: Keeping it on automatic will not harm, you will egt best quality. 4:3 movies will have bars on sides on widescreen TV, that is normal. You can always select your TV to maximize visible area. unconscious_alert: Was that movie playable before re-muxing? Try GSpot - it will report you what codecs are missing.
