Ridisc Xtreme I have been using the above dvd-r (16x) and my pioneer dvd 108 will only see them as (4x) I have updated my bios and it still see's them as (4x). Is the Pioneer dvd 108 not compatible or does anyone else have the same problem with their writer. Mad

Hi Cappers and welcome to our forums I have suffered the same fate but only with my pioneer 109 in early firmware. It seems Pioneer have not added the support in the 108 yet. They may never do as the 108 is no longer made for a while. See Here for how well the 109 did with this media ( Traxdata version - Ridisc Xtreme uses the same dye code last time I checked ) at 12x. It took until the very latest firmwares for Pioneer to add this support too in the 109. So it looks like you could be stuck with a default 4x writing strategy for this media Sad

Hi SirQUK. Thx 4 welcome to forum. My concern with these dvd's (16x Ridisc Xtreme) is I dont usually have problems with dvd brands, apart from the above mentioned. i now avoid. But I suspect Ridisc r not the same as Ritek, therefore i think we are talking about two diff types. (I use Ritek Dye brands constantly with no probs) I looked up Ritek & Ridisc if u check this link www.ridisc.com I think i may have solved my problem. There r counterfeit dvd's going round under Ridisc Xtreme brand name. Thx again 4 ur input, as it jolted me into searching further afield. Also any1 else reading this will b made aware of the counterfeit copies. Very Happy
