| Hi Im new to this forum and hoping for a little advice. I have built several machines recently for different people and one guy said he would install the OS (winXP), the only problem was his disk was damaged but he said he had the serial number. To cut along story short :- would I be breaking and copyright law by given software away to clients that already have the serial/licence, in the above case I took money for the blank CDR. Could you shed light on this grey area ???? |

| I think it's dependant on the copyright laws of your country.....some allow a backup of the original disc IF you own the original,so if this is the case, your customer should be safe as long as he keeps the damaged version and if the "backup" is identical to his version.....if this not applies to where you live, you better don't offer that service..... |
