Last weekend my PC crashed taking most of my work with it. I did however, manage to salvage some of my important stuff copying it to a DVD-RW using InCD from another terminal, simply because my own PC would not respond to any commands. To my horror, and after wiping my PC clean, the disk that I copied is refusing to be read. The light on my ReWriter on constantly on indicating the drive is active, plus, to remove the disk it is necessary to reboot the PC. (I tried another PC ... same result). Question; Is there any specialised software I could get that would allow me to read and remove the files that are on the disk? Win XP Pro Sp 2 NEC DVD-RW ND 3520A 1024 mb DDR Memory AMD 3000+ CPU Any help or sensible suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks, Piet. PS. I bought disks to perform a backup on the day it crashed ... how unlucky can one get |

| Put the dvd-rw back in the computer where InCd is installed and check if the disc is closed......if not, close the session and try again in your clean pc.... If you still can't acces the data, and if it's important enough to spend some money on,try the pro version of Isobuster......it can extract data from UDF formatted discs, used with packetwriting software like InCd,InstantWrite DragtoDisc and similar.... |

| I second trying to close the disc. If roadworkers ways dont work you can try using the vso software driver tools that come installed with copytodvd to finalise the disc ( although I think roadworker has got all bases covered for ya already ). I really dont like packet writing software although I see its obvious use. Always use a good reliable CD\DVDRW and remember that every time u re-write to a RW disc you are in theory getting worse quality each time and cheap RWs mess up a lot quicker than the good uns! |
