I dont know if this would be use to many people here YET, but more and more people are streaming their movies to a media center (xbox, pc, Myth TV, ect). I am setting this up myself. There are currently no good tools (or standards) for downloadng and associating meta data with dvds (maybe stored as IMG files). I dont know if the request is too off focus for DRM but I think the features of getting meta data (from IMDB, amazon, dvdempire, ect...) and storing it with the dvd image will be more important as more people build media servers.

I don't think meta data is one of the focus of DRM, since this will require writing a protocol to acquire info from the server database. If I can find a dvd player that supports DVD-Text and Jacket picture, that's good enough for me. Wink As for storing dvds as IMG files for streaming movies, it all comes down to how much HD space you have, and how much $$ you're willing to buy more HD to get more space. So putting it on a DVD is more practical. Besides, I usually only watch once, unless it's really good.

Why backup if your only going to watch once, let alone buy the discs. I know its not really the focus of DRM but it seems no one has a good solution for this problem. There is a few available software solutions for downloading meta data, but no go way of associated the data. HD space is cheap and streaming offers the convenience of TIVO type browsing of your movie collection.
