Hi johno Welcome to our forums. I take it you would like to make a working backup of the latest dvds These contain the latest copy protections and can be quite awkward. Good news is DVD Decrypter is a good working solution to this problem. if you use this software to first put the dvd onto your harddrive your issues willl be no more.

DVDShrink wil not bypass protections unless DVD43Free or AnyDVD are running. DVD Decrypter will! DVDShrink is a good reencoder though!

Alien Vs preadtor u can back up but you wil have a big blank file still on there ( i just checked my notes,,,). Layer Cake needs either dvddecrypter or ANYDVD installed to work at the time of replying.

My copy of alien v predator works perfectly, I'm not sure about a big blank file on it, but if it's there it's not interfering with the quality of the film.

I'll try layercake later with dvd shrink, I'd like to see why it won't copy, I'll let you know how I get on, and maybe ask your assistance if I run into difficulty, if that's ok with you?

Sure! There is an easy way to do it now using DVDDecrypter 3.5.3.0 if you experience issues getting it to the hd with dvdshrink.

Thanks, I'm just curious as to what dvd shrink will do, coz I've not come across any films which couldn't be backed up with it. I'll keep you posted.

I'm moving this to the Copy Protection forum as it is quite clearly a discussion on new DVD protections Smile

You were absolutly correct about dvd shrink not being able to back up layer cake. It gave the same error message as if the disc were dirty or damaged, so I used dvd decrypter to copy the files to my hd, then dvd shrink to fit them on a dvdr. It worked fine, thanks man!
