| OK, here it is......somehow I was burning cds and dvds fine, but I got to messing around with Adware/Spyware removal, and then registry cleaneing, then not able to pinpoint an exact time of the foul up, my computer will no longer recognise a blank CD-R or CD-RW. It will still burn a DVD. I've tried everything and I'm quite sure I have somehow removed a vital Registry Entry. Does anyone know where and what entry controls CD recognition?? I've updated firmware, all the layers are the same version, etc. It is something with Windows XP that I screwed up. Microsoft is helping me, but after 3 attempts, still nothing........anyone who knows a possibility I appreciate it! I'll keep checking, and I hope somebody can help me! Thanks EBO72 |

| Hi EBO72 and postijo Welcome to our forums. This could be a bad one to try and pinpoint so lets go through some basics. Do you have XP SP2 installed? Do you have XP burning engine switched on Have you installed ASPI 4.71 or later What software have you installed lately ( nero/copytodvd etc) Losing the ability to read CDR is annoying I'm sure! |
