| I know this had already been ruled out, but I just loaded a 4,3 gig cell, so in this case size really doesn't matter. |

This does indeed seem to be a Win98 issue because I just upgraded to XP and the cells >1Gb are no longer a problem. |

| OK. But it is still interesting wether it was just your configuration or a general Win98 related problem |

| As I mentioned in a previous post, I have another Win98 box. I still intend to test it, but its network card just died so I have no practical way to get the ripped files on it because it doesn't have a DVD drive. After I get a new NIC installed, I will test it. |

| I tested this on my other Win98 system and it happens on it too. As far as hardware goes, these two systems are very different. The have different motherboards with different chipsets and different video cards. The only thing the have in common is they both have Athlon processors. So, is looking more and more like a Win98 issue. I have another computer in my office and a laptop with Win98. I'll try these tomorrow. |

| What about memory. How much memory (physical/virtual) are there? |

| The first computer (the one that was upgraded to XP) has 512 Mb RAM with a Windows-managed swap file with over 70Gb of disk space free. The second one has 384Mb RAM, also a Windows-managed swap file and about 18 Gb of free space. |

| Hey Rubicat, When you upgraded to XP did you format the h/d or just do an upgrade? if you left the Win98 partition on the disk by upgrading your still probably working with a FAT32 partition. Search WindowsXP help for "convert". If you did a fresh install of XP then you were offered the chance for NTFS file system on installation. Also, do a "manual" windows update and just get the service pack 1 updates. Service Pack 2 isn't ready for prime time as of yet. N. |

I already had SP1 from 2 other computers in my office that I upgraded to XP earlier this year. I haven't used SP2 on any of my systems. I never install anything from Microsoft until it's been around for a while and they have addressed the inevitable issues that will arise. BTW, the problem that started this thread is no longer a problem with XP |

I can't remember who has borrowed my collection . It's been a while so I hope it's in the same condition as it was when I loaned it out! |

| I ordered this disc and it has arrived, I've done some testing on it and I'm not getting any errors from disc2a. I must be a FAT32 and not necessarily a Win98 thing. You might want to rip that disc again rubicat. If you want to see a large cell disc try Mullholland Dr. N. |
